Tropical Plant Care and Policy

Thank you for visiting Glasshouse Tropicals,  please take a moment to review our plant care tips and policy.

Bringing home your new plant:

First decide where you will be displaying your new addition, I know it's hard but, do not repot it immediately wait a week or two allowing it some time to acclimate in its new home. Keep in mind it has been in a high humidity environment and may need some help transitioning to lower humidity levels. A yellow leaf or a crispy edge can be part of the process and is completely normal!

Beneficial Bugs:

Your plant has been treated with various beneficial mites, don't worry if you see them when you're watering or on the leaves . They protect against many nasty bugs that may cause harm to your plant. Although I do my best to provide pest free plants, quarantining is always recommended.

Light:

Tropical plants will do best in bright indirect light, a nice view of the sky but not scorching full sun all day can result in burnt leaves. If you have inadequate natural light, a good quality grow light works wonders.

Temperature and Humidity:

Regular house temperature is great, a humidifier is recommended especially when first bringing it home. You can slowly acclimate them over time while keeping a close eye for signs of stress.

Watering:

Check your plants regularly, scheduled weekly watering may not always work as your plant will need more or less water depending on the time of year and conditions in your home. Do water thoroughly when the top 1.5 - 2 inches is dry. You can use a chop stick to check moisture levels . A good quality water soluble fertilizer is recommended.

Glasshouse Tropicals strives to provide excellent customer care, if you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact us. We do not provide replacements or refunds after the plant has left our care.
